BMPD aims to support artists to develop their practice by:
- Establishing a local infrastructure which will help artists to grow in confidence, be less isolated and more valued
- Listening and responding to what artists say they need to develop their practice
- Encouraging artist-led projects and supporting artists with their creative ideas
- Encouraging diversity and cross-artform understanding and collaboration
- Spreading information and encouraging artists to take up existing opportunities for training, networking, and exhibiting
BMPD aims to create opportunities for artists to debate and extend their networks by:
- Organising networking events and encouraging attendance by a range of practitioners workingacross a variety of artforms
- Encouraging links between individuals and artists groups across a wider geographic area
- Arranging speakers and workshops focussing on a range of specific issues
- Becoming a Hub for artists to source and exchange information and support via a dedicated website
